FrameFlow vs Dubsado

The Dubsado alternative for wedding photographers.

Dubsado is a powerful general-purpose CRM for creative service businesses. FrameFlow is opinionated and built specifically for wedding photographers — fewer settings, none of the learning curve, all the wedding-day tooling Dubsado leaves to you to figure out yourself.

Part of our guide to wedding CRM software.

01 / Why switch

Three reasons photographers move from Dubsado.

  1. 01

Built for wedding photographers, not all creatives

Dubsado serves coaches, designers, copywriters, photographers, planners. FrameFlow serves wedding photographers and videographers. Every default, every field, every template is tuned to your job.

  2. 02

    No 40-hour learning curve

Dubsado's depth is its greatest strength and its biggest cost. FrameFlow ships with sensible defaults — a wedding-pipeline pre-built, contract and questionnaire templates ready, automations that match what wedding photographers actually need.

  3. 03

The wedding-day tooling Dubsado never had

Shot list and timeline that stay viewable when the venue eats your signal, drag-and-drop timeline, group-photo planner with time totals, vendor cheat sheet for the venue. Dubsado has none of this — it's a CRM, not a wedding-day tool. FrameFlow is both.

03 / The honest read

Where each tool actually wins.

No comparison page is honest if it pretends the competitor has no strengths. Here's where Dubsado genuinely wins, and where FrameFlow does.

What Dubsado does better

  • Customisation depth — Dubsado lets you build essentially any workflow imaginable
  • Pixel-level branding control on forms, portals, emails
  • A larger community of certified specialists you can hire if you want help setting it up
  • Multi-industry flexibility — useful if you have a side business beyond photography

What FrameFlow does better

  • Setup in an afternoon, not a week — wedding-photography defaults are pre-built
  • The wedding-day toolkit Dubsado doesn't try to build (and probably never will)
  • Sensible opinions baked in — couple-aware client records, wedding-pipeline by default, second-shooter pay tracking native
  • $240/year flat vs Dubsado's $420/year Premier — and we don't pass through Stripe fees we don't charge

Should you switch?

Switch to FrameFlow if…

If you've spent weeks setting Dubsado up and you're still tweaking it, switch. If you need wedding-day tooling and Dubsado leaves you bolting on a third-party shot-list app, switch. If you're a wedding photographer (and not a coach-photographer-planner hybrid) and want a tool that doesn't make you configure it into existence, switch.

Stay on Dubsado if…

Stay on Dubsado if its depth is genuinely earning its keep — multi-business workflows, complex multi-stage proposals, deeply branded client experiences. Stay if you've already invested in custom workflows that would be painful to recreate. Stay if you're not actually a wedding photographer.

06 / FAQ

Switching questions, answered.

Can I import my Dubsado clients?
Yes. Export from Dubsado as CSV (Contacts and Projects), import into FrameFlow. We map the fields, you check the preview, click import.
Dubsado's workflows are really powerful. Will FrameFlow's automations be enough?
For wedding photography, yes. FrameFlow's event-relative triggers ("X days before the event", "after the gallery is delivered") cover the wedding-photo workflow without needing the conditional-logic depth Dubsado builds for coaches and planners. If you need genuinely complex branching workflows, Dubsado still wins.
Can I customise the couple portal?
Yes — studio name, colour, logo, and on the Studio plan your own domain. Not pixel-level CSS overrides like Dubsado, but the level of branding most wedding photographers actually want.
How long does the switch take?
Most studios are up and running in an afternoon. Dubsado's depth means you might have spent weeks setting it up — FrameFlow's defaults mean you don't have to.

Free plan, no card. Three active jobs is enough to test it on a real Saturday. If it doesn't pull its weight against Dubsado, leave.
